About the Artist

Michèle Landsaat is a visual artist whose whose passion is etching and telling stories through images. Her entire body of work originates from an exploration into the symbolic world of the unseen. She is known for her intimate, intricate etchings and sculptures that feature women, animals, and other invented creatures. The figures that animate her work bring strange and whimsical worlds to life in a unique approach to storytelling. Her exhibitions and installations often move into the three-dimensional as a means to invite a more experiential relationship with the work.

Michèle currently lives in Burien, WA. She is the recipient of a 2018 4Culture Projects Grant, second prize in the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award Original Illustration Exhibition, a City Arts Magazine 2017 Summer Art Walk award winner, the 2016-2017 Pratt/Seattle Print Arts Partners Grant, and a 2016 Artist Trust Grants for Artist Projects recipient. She has exhibited her work locally and internationally. Her pieces are included in the permanent collection of the Shanghai Baoshan International Folk Arts Museum and the R.W. Norton Art Gallery.
